The Future's in the Past

I’ve been strolling down memory lane this week. It all started a few nights ago when I got a Facebook message. “Are you Kathy Head (my maiden name, which I was glad to get rid of) that went to Shreve Christian School?”

Becoming Facebook friends with Tammie was only the beginning. I quickly reconnected with a number of high school friends. We’ve been sending Facebook messages and emailing back and forth for days. I even talked on the phone with Mary Ann, a sweet friend I haven’t seen in 20 years. We made plans to meet for coffee when I travel to her city in a couple of weeks. Read more

It Will Come Up

One morning last week I woke up to the sound of retching. Harley, our Chihuahua, who sleeps in his bed on the floor next to ours, was sick. Great. Just what I wanted to deal with at 5:45am.

Luckily, the mess was confined to the dog bed – which is machine washable. I grabbed some paper towels to get “the bulk” and discovered the source of the problem. Harley had chewed on and consumed a chunk of plastic. (Sorry, I should have warned you that this might get graphic.) Read more

Got Wisdom?

gold-barsMankind is capable of tremendous things. We can put a man on the moon – and beyond. We can harness the power of the wind, split atoms, clone living beings, and many more incredible things.

Thousands of years ago, God’s servant Job pondered this same thing. He saw the men of his day enter the depths of the earth and return with gold and gems and he was amazed. Yet, he noticed that with all their ability they could not mine wisdom. Read more
