Man! Talk about sad! But this has a strong lesson. The Lord wants us to listen to our husbands' counsel, even if we disagree with them. They are responsible for the family (and I guess that includes the family dog). The principle from the True Woman Manifesto (http://www.truewoman.com/?id=312) is, "We are called as women to affirm and encourage men as they seek to express godly masculinity, and to honor and support God-ordained male leadership in the home and in the church." And, "When we respond humbly to male leadership in our homes and churches, we demonstrate a noble submission to authority that reflects Christ's submission to God His Father." I know that those aren't statements that are popular with many women today, but I know from experience that God has honored our marriage and blessed our home when I affirm and encourage and honor my husband's leadership--even when it's tough. Thanks for a post that encourages married women to consider their choices concerning their God-given role in the home.
