Kathy Howard's Biography

Teaching and Writing

Kathy is passionate about studying and teaching God’s Word. Currently serving as the Minister of Adult Education at a Baptist church in Midland, Texas, she has been teaching adults the Bible for almost twenty years. When God called Kathy to deeper study she enrolled in the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary to better equip herself for whatever He had in store. In 2004 she graduated with a Master’s of Religious Education and a Certificate in Women’s Ministry.

Love of teaching led Kathy to also begin writing Bible study curriculum to meet specific needs among those she teaches. For instance, after being questioned over and over by students about what the Bible means when it says we are to “fear God,” Kathy began to study the topic. The result was a nine-week study based on the book of Malachi. "Before His Throne" was released by New Hope Publishers in January, 2008.

Kathy also has an exciting teaching ministry to spiritual seekers. She has written a ten-week study that presents the basics of the Christian faith in a non-threatening way. The study guides seekers through the Bible from creation to the foundation of the Church and challenges them to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. In addition to teaching many such groups herself, Kathy has led workshops to train other Christians how to lead Bible study for seekers.

Actively involved in women’s ministry for many years, Kathy enjoys speaking at women’s events and conferences. She is equally comfortable speaking in a large group setting, teaching in a more casual atmosphere, or in leading interactive workshops.

Personal and Family

Kathy and her husband Wayne have been married almost twenty-five years and have three children. Wayne’s job in the oil industry has kept the family moving. Starting off in south Louisiana the family has experienced life in Wyoming, West Texas, Alberta, Canada, and Houston. Currently they make their home in Midland, Texas.

The family loves outdoor activities. Over the years they have camped, hiked, snow skied, biked, and fished together – some family members participating more enthusiastically than others. They have bear stories, blizzard stories, getting lost stories, and of course, “the one that got away” stories.

Kathy enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, scrapbooking, and drinking coffee with friends. She is also very faithful to her time at the gym – but that is mostly because of her love for chocolate.
