The approach of Mother’s Day reminds me of one of my favorite childhood memories. Many years I got to stand at the front on the church with 5 other children and hold a big sign displaying a single capital letter. Sometimes I even got to make my letter sign with Elmer’s Glue and a bottle of gold glitter. And as we held our signs high, we sang:
M is for the many things she gave me.
O means only that she’s growing old.
T is for the tears she shed to save me.
H is for her heart of purest gold.
E is for her eyes with love light shining.
R means right and right she’ll always be.
Put them all together they spell Mother, a word that means the world to me.
Those messy signs and that song were a child’s tribute to her mother on her special day. Our moms deserve the attention and the thanks.
In honor of Mother’s Day 2013, I’m giving away a copy of “God is My Refuge.” This 12-week devotional book encourages women with God’s Word on topics like grief, need, illness, fear, broken relationships, and more. (Learn more about it here.)

I would love to win this for my best friend. It truly blessed me when I used it.
You’re entered Christina!
I would love to win this for my youngest daughter, who still has 2 teenagers and home and many challenges thrown at of late. I know she is getting through it because she is a believer, otherwise I am sure she would have caved in by now. The verse you shared on “Mother” is beautiful & it fits my mother so aptly. She raised 9 children, 7 boys & 1 of the boys was mentally challenged she had him with her all her life and counted him a special blessing after she was widowed for 13 years, she said “you know Vernon is a special blessing since your father died, otherwise I would be so lonely”, now that I am a widow myself I fully understand her feelings.
Hi June! I don’t know how people get through such difficult times without leaning on God. I need Him desperately! Your mother sounds wonderful. What a life! June, you are entered!
I so admire my mother, my eldest & only sister died at 25, a young mother of 3. So we were both raised with the 7 boys. My mother, God Bless Her, went out to do housework to earn money so me, “her only living duaghter”, could go to high school. I so very much appreciated that and glad to say that one day after my marriage when I needed a job desparately, I landed it an Eaton’s accounts office – thanks to my mother who got me the training and education I needed. My mom was a gem.
June, thanks for sharing this beautiful story about your mom!
Thank you for the giveaway.

I would love to win this devotional to gift to her in the help that the Word of God can and will make a change in her life! Even at this age. Again thank you !

If you will leave separate comments below about each of those, that will enter you two more times. The plugin I use works off of individual comments. Thanks!
I would love to win this and use it for my Monday night Bible study group.
Hi Virginia! You are entered for the drawing. If any of your ladies prefer an e-book, the book is available for the Kindle!
My mom went home to God 8 yrs ago this month. She taught me about God. Her faith and strength through her grief and illnesses have helped me be who I am today. Her prayers are what has kept me going. Her listening ear taught me to listen to my daughter, to pray for her, to believe in her. I miss her, and I know we will be together again one glorious day. That makes me smile! I would love the book to share with my new mother-in-law, to encourage her heart as her health issues increase. thanks. Mary
Hi Mary! Thank you for sharing about your mom with us. It sounds like she was a mighty woman of faith who leaned heavily on her God. You are entered for the giveaway!
This book would be great for my Mom right now. She just lost her younger brother. They were very close and used to talk almost daily. Though she has peace knowing that his pain has ended and he is now with Jesus, it is still a rough time for her. What a neat giveaway for Mother’s Day! You and your ministry are a great source of inspiration. Thank you!
Hi Laura, thanks for coming by and entering. Yes, this book could be a great encouragement to your mom!
I, too, would love to receive this book. My MIL lost her middle son (my BIL) 2 years ago in a tragic accident, and understandably her life turned upside down. I have watched her go from a fun-loving, strong woman of faith, to a fearful and doubting shell of her former self. Encouragement from this book would be a blessing to her I am sure.
I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Karen, I am so sorry to hear that about your mom-in-law. It is so difficult to lose a child no matter how old. My husband’s brother died of cancer when he was 40 and I saw the deep grief my mother-in-law struggled with. But God is able to comfort and fill her with His joy again. You are entered in the drawing!
I am just selfish & greedy! I would want the book for myself, as I love everything I see with your name on it! You have such a great ministry in teaching!
Helen, thanks for the words of encouragement! And it’s perfectly fine to keep it for yourself if you win! You’re entered!
Thank you for sharing this giveaway and your book! I never know what to get my mom for Mother’s Day. We don’t have the closest relationship, but the older I get the more I see how wonderful of a mom she was and continues to be. I am frustrated I don’t know how to connect with her as I would like. This is an amazing opportunity to grow in our love for the Lord together. If I don’t win, I think I would like to purchase two copies for us to do together – even though we are miles apart! <3
Hi Michelle, thanks for stopping by! I think doing the devotional book with your mom is a great idea. Studying God’s Word together (even over distance) is a great relationship building experience. And it will give you a reason to talk regularly. You are entered in the drawing!
I’d love to win this book! I am starting a home
group for women in my church and I think
this book would be great for me during this time!
Hi Whitney! Hope your little man is feeling better! You are entered for the drawing. And you’re right! This book would be great for a small group of women. And its available for the Kindle if you have ladies that prefer an ebook!
I would love to win this. I lost my mom in Febuary and it will be a very difficult Mothers Day this year. She was only 62. But I know she would not come back on earth for anything. She has seen Jesus and is walking the streets of gold. How AMAZING that is. R.I.P Mom Love u.
Melissa, I am so sorry for your loss. But you’re right! She would not want to come back. This devotional can point you to great encouragement and comfort in God’s Word. You are entered!
Thank you so much. Because I am still struggling so bad right now. But I am trying everyday. Thanks again
Thanks for the chance to win a copy of your book. My Mother ran away when I was 9 years old. At 58 I tried To have a relatioNship with her. She Turned ouT to be a big bully and a user. It was quite painful so I had to walk away. How can I obey the WOrd which says honor thy parents when I’m in a siTuaTion such as this?
Ann, thank you for sharing this pain with us. I am so sorry that your childhood was so different than the way God intended. Sin has so scarred our world. It’s devastation affects even those people and relationships we should be able to rely on the most. It sounds like your mother’s struggle was a spiritual one that impacted everything and everyone in her life. God can show you how to honor her and treat her with love while maintaining boundaries for your own protection. I am so glad we have a heavenly Father who parents us with perfect love. He can heal your hurt and fill in the holes. Lifting you in prayer now!
Kathy thanks for offering this giveaway! This would be a great to do this with my Mom and 4 sisters! You do such great work! Happy Mothers Day to you!
Kayleen
You’re entered just in time!
I would love to have the opportunity to win this book to give to one of the ladies in my bible study class that I lead on Wed. nights. So many hurting mama’s out there…so many mama’s just needing to hear a Word from our Lord that comes during the quiet times of doing a devotional. It’s at those times for me that God’s Word will leap off the page to bring me a refreshing taste of glory revealed. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Cindy, thanks for coming by! You are entered!
