Welcome back! How did you do with the introductory lesson? Remember, a better understanding of the background and context of the book helps us to grasp what God originally intended in His message to these first century Jewish Christians. Let’s keep all this in mind as we move forward into studying the book itself.
I am excited for us to get into the Scripture! This week we will study how God reveals Himself to us through Jesus and why Jesus is far superior to the angels. Then we will consider what that means for you and me. Watch the video, download the lesson, let’s go!

Here’s a few last things:
- There’s a new “Bible study” link on the tool bar of the site. That will make it easier for you to see all the Bible study posts separately from unrelated posts.
- It’s not too late to invite friends to join us. Previous lessons will remain accessible.
- Continue to interact through the comments. I will post one or two new discussion starters each week, so watch for those. If you “subscribe to the blog” by reader or email you can stay informed about these.
- I’d also love for you to sign-up for my monthly e-newsletter!
First, thank you Kathy for doing this study with us.
Have I learned something from the intro session? Yes; I don’t think I knew that the letter was written to the Jewish Christians in Rome. Even though it would be interesting to know who wrote the letter, I like what you said “God would have revealed it”…
As I was listening to your words this morning, a song by Casting Crowns came to mind. “Slow Fade” is talking about that we might not turn around on our heels to step away from our faith, it may be the daily little steps that lead away from Christ.
Looking forward going through this weeks lesson.
I know the song, “Slow Fade”, Iris. You are so right. We need to remember that walking away from our faith starts with little steps. So, it is so important to stay connected and focused on God. That’s one of the reasons I’m happy about this study! My desire is to grow even closer to our Lord.
I just started the chapter 1 study questions this morning…and love how I’m being challenged to really think, not just “answer”.
